Dr. Anil Srinivas Matta
 

Dr. Anil Srinivas Matta received his medical degree from India’s Osmania Medical College in 1999. After completing his compulsory rotating intership in 2000 at Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad, India, Dr. Matta moved to Louisiana to pursue further medical training. He finished his Masters in Public Health in 2003 at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans. As part of his time at Tulane, he became a prolific Research Assistant at the Department of Endocrinology where he published several articles in publications like the Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology Therapeutics, and presented multiple abstracts to scientific meetings of organizations like the American Medical Association.

In 2004, Dr. Matta was accepted at the Family Medicine Program of LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport where he recently graduated in June 2007. While at LSU Health Sciences Center, his training also brought him to Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. On his graduation at LSU Health Sciences Center, Dr. Matta was honored with the Most Outstanding Senior Resident Award and the Resident Teacher Award for 2006-2007.

"I want to be part of a practice where there is ongoing and continuing relationship with patients and there families because patients deserve to be treated as people, with a name and a story that goes with them," Dr. Matta said.

Dr. Matta is passionate about protecting the community especially adolescents from HIV/AIDS, as well as other sexually transmitted diseases, by actively designing and conducting sex education programs at underserved areas of New Orleans. Not forgetting his roots and heritage, Dr. Matta also participates in cultural activities of the Hare Rama, Hare Krishna Society of New Orleans.
