
Dr. Mohamed Shehata received his medical degree from Egypt’s Alexandria University School of Medicine in 1993. After training in Primary Care and Critical Care Medicine at Alexandria University, he moved to the United States in 2001 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Michael Reese Hospital of the University of Illinois in 2004. He also received a year of Geriatric Fellowship training at Tulane University and the Veterans Administration Medical Center in New Orleans in 2005.
In March of 2005, Dr. Shehata started his primary care/internal medicine/geriatrics practice in Leesville. He joined the Medical Staff of Byrd Regional Hospital where he became Chief of the Medical Care Committee, Co-Chairman of Infection Control and the Pharmacy Medical Director. He is affiliated with Triparish Rehabilitation Hospital, Leesville Rehab Hospital, Rospine Rehabilitation and Retirement Home and Woodlands Nursing Home. He has a cumulative experience of 13 years in the field of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. Dr. Shehata is a member of the American Medical Directors Association and the American Geriatrics Society.
